Terms of Use
Plain-language terms for using PlanRetirement.ai. The short version: this is an educational planning calculator, not a financial advisor — the decisions, and the professionals you check them with, are yours.
Last updated: August 2, 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and PlanRetirement.ai ("the Service," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. The Service is educational — not financial advice
PlanRetirement.ai is a self-directed educational planning tool. It produces mathematical projections from assumptions and inputs you control. Nothing the Service produces — including projections, readiness scores, scenario results, suggested levers, or text generated in response to your questions — is financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and none of it is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or other asset.
We are not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, accountant, or law firm; the Service is not registered with the SEC, FINRA, or any state securities regulator. Using the Service does not create an advisory, fiduciary, client, or professional relationship of any kind. We do not monitor your plan, your accounts, or your circumstances, and we owe you no ongoing duty to update anything.
Before acting on anything the Service shows you, verify the inputs and conclusions with a qualified professional who knows your full situation.
3. Projections are hypothetical
Projections are Monte Carlo simulations and deterministic models built on assumptions — about markets, inflation, taxes, benefits, longevity, and your own inputs — that will not match the future. They are directional estimates, not predictions or guarantees. Modeled results do not reflect actual investment results, and actual outcomes will differ, possibly substantially. Tax and benefit rules change; the Service's models may lag those changes. The methodology and its documented limitations are public (white paper, methodology).
4. Your data, your keys — and what that means
Your plan is encrypted in your browser with keys derived from credentials only you hold. We cannot read your plan, and we cannot recover it if you lose your password, passkeys, and recovery phrase. You accept that this is a deliberate design: the price of a service that cannot see your data is that it also cannot rescue your access. Keep your recovery phrase safe. When you delete your account, your encrypted data is permanently deleted.
5. Connected AI assistants
You may connect third-party AI assistants to your plan. Any assistant you connect acts as your agent, under permissions you grant and can revoke. We are not responsible for a third-party assistant's outputs, errors, availability, or handling of information you share with it. Changes an assistant proposes take effect only after you approve them; an approval is your decision, with the same educational-only status as anything else in the Service.
6. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the Service: no unlawful use, no attempts to breach or probe its security beyond your own account, no interference with its operation, no scraping or bulk extraction of the Service's content, and no representing its output to others as professional financial advice. We may suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
7. The Service is provided "as is"
The Service is free, and it is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that projections are correct. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost savings, investment losses, or lost data, arising from or related to the Service — including decisions you make in reliance on its output. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; where a limitation is not permitted, it applies to the fullest extent permitted.
9. Indemnification
You will indemnify and hold us harmless from claims and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms. Sections 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, and 12 survive termination.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms; the "Last updated" date above will change when we do. Material changes will be flagged in the Service. Continued use after a change is acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing law & severability
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
